Coed Youth Basketball League for Ages 7-11
Starts: Saturday, December 6, 2025

Welcome to B.D.B. Jr. NBA/WNBA Basketball Winter League, specially designed for boys and girls aged 7-11. Our league offers a comprehensive, fun, and instructional approach to learning and playing basketball.

League Overview:

  • Season Structure:

    • Initial Practices and Drills: The season starts with dedicated practice sessions and drills, where players will learn and refine fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense.

    • Games and Playoffs: After the initial practice phase, teams will transition into playing regular games. The season will culminate in exciting playoff matches, providing a taste of competitive basketball in a fun and supportive environment.

  • Skill Development:

    • Foundational Skills: Our focus is on teaching the essential skills of basketball. Coaches work with players on basic techniques, ensuring that they build a strong foundation in the sport.

    • Advanced Techniques: As players progress, they will also learn more advanced techniques and strategies, preparing them for higher levels of play.

    • Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Emphasis is placed on the importance of teamwork, cooperation, and good sportsmanship, both on and off the court.

  • Objective:

    • Future Preparation: One of our primary goals is to prepare young athletes for future basketball opportunities. For those aiming to make their junior high school team as freshmen, our league provides the perfect stepping stone by equipping them with the necessary skills and game knowledge.

    • Confidence Building: By participating in our league, players gain confidence in their abilities and learn the value of hard work, discipline, and perseverance.

  • Inclusive Environment:

    • All Skill Levels Welcome: We welcome players of all abilities, from beginners to more experienced players. Our coaches tailor their instruction to meet the needs of each individual, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to improve and enjoy the game.

    • Supportive Community: Our league fosters a supportive and inclusive community where players can build friendships, learn from each other, and grow together as athletes.

Boys and Girls Ages 7-11 will learn some of the basic rules of basketball. Here's some of what we will go over:​​​

  • Jr. NBA jersey and shorts

  • Offense drills

  • Defense drills

  • Basic ball dribbling drills

  • Passing drills

  • Shooting drills

  • Lines on the court 

  • Rebounding drills

  • Making shots with defense drill

  • Full court games

  • Record keeping 

  • AAU style double elimination tournament at the end of season (winter league only)

​​Volunteer Coaching Opportunities/Get Involved:

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteer coaches to help guide and mentor our young athletes. Coaching is a rewarding way to give back to the community and make a positive impact on the lives of young players. Winter 2025/2026 League Registration Information​

  • Registration: Opens Oct 3, 2025 - until sold out

    • Registration is taken on an individual basis. Online registration is available (debit/credit cards accepted)

  • Open to all Fairfax County residents and non-residents 

  • Each player pays a registration fee to enter

  • B.D.B. will place players on teams based on age

  • Buddy/sibling same team request are possible (not guaranteed) 

  • League registration is subject to close-out prior to the last day of signups

  • Location:  2500 Parkers Ln Alexandria, VA 22306

  • Co-Parent friendly (kids are not penalized for missing games or practices)

League Updates for Winter 2025/2026 Season

 

  • ​Buddy Request:

    • Buddy requests are not guaranteed, but we will do our best to honor them for ages 9 and under.

    • For ages 10 and up, there will be a skills assessment to balance teams, making buddy requests more challenging to accommodate.

    • The timing of registration also affects buddy requests. If one parent signs up in early and another the last day, it may be difficult to honor the request due to rosters filling up.​​
